Associação Portuguesa de Criadores do Cavalo Puro Sangue Lusitano - APSL
The Lusitano, another popular breed from the hisperian country, originates from the Andalusian and has its main studfarms in Portugal. Their heead should be well proportioned, of medium length, narrow and dry, with the lower jaw not too pronounced and the cheek tending to be long. Slightly sub-convex profile with the forehead in advance of the bones of the eyebrows, The ears are of medium length, fine, narrow and expressive. Their neck is of medium length, arched with a narrow hairline, deep in the base and well inserted between the shoulders, rising up from the withers without any marked convexity. Well defined and long withers, with a smooth transition from the back to the neck are a typical sign in Lusitanos. The back is well defined and tending towards the horizontal making a smooth union between the withers and loins. Lusitanos usually have well muscled and harmoniously inclined legs. Just like their cousin the Andalusian, Lusitanos are moving agile, elevated, forward, smooth and providing a great comfort to the rider.
