The english thoroughbred is possibly the most influential horse breed in the world, besides possibly the Arabian, having influenced most modern sporting breeds. The thoroughbred is characterized by its long, athletic legs, lean, slender build and fine chiseled head. They have a fine, straight head and a relatively large eye. their legs are slim and they are typically well-muscled and have strong hindquarters, high withers and a sloping shoulder. These horses make excellent sport horses often excelling in sports such as eventing and show jumping, and their athletic ability makes them one of the most popular breeds in the world. They stand between 15.2hh and 18hh, and are famous for their incredible speed and endurance. English Thoroughbreds are perhaps most well known as racehorses, as the Thoroughbred is the most popular racing breed in the world, with famous horses such as Secretariat and Man o’ war making the pages of history.
